Get time on your big, slow drill press in Raleigh?

My little drill press has met its match...in the form of a rosette cutter. The press doesn't go anywhere near slow enough and there is far, far too much slop in the spindle. The results are a bit frightening. Would anyone let me cut a couple rosettes on their press? Recommended speed is <250 rpm.

    Time is slipping away

Our donation drive ends on March 15. We are currently running behind, and there is a real possibility that we won't meet our goal. There are no dues required to participate on NCWW and the board hopes that it won't ever become necessary to institute a dues program. There are fixed, as well, as...

    Router Time with Valdhor

I had offered my shop for Valdhor (Steve) to use for his router project and this morning he took me up on it. What a great guy! :eusa_clap Found out his brother live in Melbourne, Australia and I spent a year just outside of the wonderful city. He is a great addition to our group. I told him...

    Rent/Borrow Workshop Router time

Does anyone know where I can rent/borrow some time at a router table? all I need is about a half hour to rout a cove on about 16' of boards. I'm afraid I don't have a router or table. I get by as a learner with my table saw and chop saw. Somewhere close to Holly Springs would be even better...

    Warm Weather = Shop Time

Well, well, finally some decent weather and I took advantage of it this weekend. My big slab that I've been working has a couple of siblings that have been sitting in a wooden crate for quite some time. The ground finally dried out enough for me to get down there and retrieve them...

Time to play "Name that Plane"

So I am about to restore another plane that was given to me. Best I can tell, it is an older, low angle block plane. There is no writing on the plane that I can see. The broken knob is made of Bakelite. Does anybody recognize this plane?

    Shop time, Part 2

I got back to work on the chest of drawers this morning and started machining the drawer dovetails. It was a bit cold but I did them outside because of so much dust. I do not have the dust attachment for the Leigh jig yet. View image in gallery Got all the parts machined and fit. Next come...

Time for a New Set of Tires

Today, I installed a new set of urethane tires on my bandsaw. I have found that there are two choices, either blue (Carter), or orange (all the rest.) Prices vary greatly, with Hartville having a SET of orange for $24.90. Woodcraft has the blue ones for $23.09 EACH. Klingspor's price is similar...

Time to get back to work

Hey All, Haven't posted anything in some time. Took a break after carving all those Christmas things for the kids, grand kids and friends. I guess I had better get started again before I forget how. Just thought I would post one of my latest. He's carved out of basswood, naturally, and is 6"...

    Time of Change

I've been taking my stab at the software business for the past 5 years, but that all ended today :eusa_hand. Details aside, it's been coming and effective Feb 1 became reality. In my heart it is accepted, but my stomach is still very empty. Not sure what to do with myself yet :eusa_thin, but...

    Killin' time....

Yesterday I decided to get back on the lathe a little. Here's the results: Wall Street II kits. I thought it appropriate to use corn cob on one of the kits. LOML says they're 'men's pens' so I guess I'll hafta do some slimline kits today......

I put in some shop time this week

I finally got back into woodworking after laying off for quite a while. I decided on a chest of drawers for my bedroom. With about fifteen hours into it, I have the carcass finished and ready for trim moulding and some kind of bracket feet. This part went pretty fast but will slow down now and...

I Made Some Time For A Daughter

The eldest has a b'day coming up so I knocked out a quickie little clock for her to go along with another item she has asked for. It's Walnut with sapwood and a bark inclusion on the top of the curve, and a little natural edge on the base. The front is a laminated piece of spalted Oak I've been...

    Time to be active

Hi, I'm Ron Craig from Pittsboro. I've been interested / marginally active in woodworking for probably 10 years or so. I help out with Habitat when the opportunity arises. I've got a minimal shop taking over my garage, but mostly I'm involved in the Techshop ( http://www.techshopdurham.com...

Long time lurker, first time poster

Greetings from SoVA. I've been a wood dilettante (hope I'm using that word right) for years. The biggest thing I've created that didn't require a roof is a smallish (kitchen) buffet. Turned out ok, but I learned that drawers are not my thing. But, a few years ago we moved from NoVA to here...

    It's about time.

I've been a member of NCWWA since Nov. 2008 and thought it was time to introduce myself. I have met several members during the Durham and Apex lunch gatherings and last year's picnic. I am originally from upstate NY, 10 miles from the Canadian border. I moved here 23 years ago and retired 2...
