    Custom Box Project

Hey all, I have a project that I hope someone will be interested in. I like to make personalized boxes to use as gifts for friends, family, & others, however, I do not like the cheaply, mass produced gift boxes you can get from a gift store. I have also been meaning to take some woodworking...

    Combining Two Hobbies

I have two hobbies that I really enjoy....woodworking and beekeeping. I've found that there are many opportunities to combine the two. This is one of my latest beekeeping projects. They are about 90% complete. Anyone have other examples of folks using their woodworking skills in another hobby?

Miter boxes & dealing with kerf

I've been frustrated with crosscutting straight enough for my liking, and so I bought a miter box to see if that would help things out. The problem is that I'm not really getting any more accurate due to the kerf in the saw. That little extra width created by the kerf means that the sides of the...

    belated Xmas gifts -keepsake boxes

Here are some belated Christmas gifts. These took a couple weeks longer than scheduled, but that's nothing new! The "parent" maple board was clearly stunning with figure (after I scrubbed the dirt off of it) but had some serious checks all through the middle. I think the widest clean cut...

    keepsake boxes

Finished up a few more keepsake boxes (with wooden hinges and a Bible verse burnt into the inside lid) and a couple jewelry boxes. Most of the wood was "rescued" from firewood piles and old stacks of rough sawn boards that had seen better days. The chestnut is from a barn torn down in WV many...

Drawer boxes - finish or no?

I've read opinions that drawer boxes should not be finished. Is there a reason one might choose not to finish?

A few boxes, and what I learned making them

OK, so these aren’t necessarily the fanciest things in the world, but I did accomplish the few things that I had hoped to in making them. I am basically trying to answer one basic question: “Can I do this”? This time I decided to try my hand (or, more precisely, my table saw) at a making a...
