    Quick, but Effective Gouge Shelf

Well, the Turn & Learn is Tuesday at mi casa and my lathe tools had no place to live since parting with the Delta and it's great storage system underneath! That just wouldn't do ... So between time working on the Maloof chair, I built this extremely simple and not-so-elegant shelf for the gouges.

Adding a support for flip-up shelf

I built a cabinet (32" high, 22" wide, 18" deep). On either side, it will have a shelf that flips up. Each shelf is attached to the cabinet via a piano hinge, and is 24" long and 10" wide. Although quite different from what I built, the following picture will give you an idea of the wing...

Plant Shelf - Dawn Redwood (from Kyle)

This was fun to design/build. Drawing it in Sketchup was harder than building it! The problem was cutting the curves in the sides that angle in about 6 degrees. Finish is just a coat of Teak Oil. This redwood darkens up really quick out in the sun. LOML had it loaded up about 5 minutes...

    48" shelf?

Take a look-see at the cabinet/work area/shelf to the right of the router table. The lower shelf is a nice place to store materials, but leaves a lot of wasted space above (that is, if you load it up, it would take an hour to remove the stuff to get to what you wanted, which is ALWAYS on...

    Oak Shelf Unit for Mary

Here's a pic of the finished project, some oak shelves I built for my wife. They are built from WO, finished with some Golden Oak stain and a couple coats of poly. The edges are trimmed with some edge cuts from the boards, mitered and glued to the front to hide my "joint making" capability...

    Shelf Design Questions...

After I got the crib built back in July, the wife started in on wanting a changing table. Personally I don't see what's wrong with using the folding table we have now but SWMBO wants one bad, so I guess there is no alternative. I am building the table in a design to mirror the crib and it's...

    opinions needed on a shelf

was asked to make a shelf, They wanted it as thin as possible with narrow brackets under it. and as thin as i can make it. dimension are 12" deep by 36" long. Plans are to glue up 2 pieces to get the 12" wondering if there will be a warping problem and if there would be a better way to...

    Spring Loaded Pivoting Shelf

I may be imagining this but I seem to remember someone rigging up a spring loaded shelf like this for storing equipment in one of the magazines, here or at Woodnet. My sanders are using up too much real estate and I can use an extra horizontal workspace. I think I can use some old hood springs...

    Shelf Life of Sanding Belts?

I had four Klingspor sanding belts (3'x18"), two 150 grit & two 220 grit, for about ten years. Today I finally got around to using them. After 30 seconds of sanding, each of the belts came apart at the belt seam. :eusa_doh:No injury occurred, unless you count bewilderment. Note: this...
