    My recent project

Most of the work I'm doing now is construction so I dont have much chance do do anything but play around in my work shed. I hope to transition to where I do more furniture and cabinet work rather than general construction but in the mean time I will do what pays the bills. My Current project...

How can I make a deep, ellipse shaped hole with handtools?

I'm working on a project which requires me to make a hole about three inches deep which is shaped like an ellipse. Is there a way to do this with hand tools and a drill? Oh by the way its not a hole that goes all the way through, so its really more of a deep mortise I guess.
