I had the pleasure of attending Gregory Paolini's class on how to build his Limbert style coffee table featured on the cover of FWW in December. After picking up some lumber at Rick's Woodworking Source on Saturday, I was able to start in on my attempt at the table last night. Here is my first step, the glue-up of the table top. I am not as talented as Greg, so I planed the lumber first so that I could see the figure as I tried to match up the pieces to get a good looking top. The glue-up went much smoother than my normal glue-ups after using Greg's tips from the class. Here is the top:

I was able to make some progress over the last few days since I was stuck in the house while contractors were installing new windows. Here are some more pics:

Quick easy and centered layout!

Square holes!!! I am not a huge router fan, so I went with traditional M&T rather than floating tenons

Tenoning jig, I don't use it often but it sure comes in handy!

You are making great progress - can't wait to start mine after the Christmas madness (and after I get my heater installed!). Kinda hard to cut wood with numb fingers-besides if they are numb I won't be able to tell if I lop one off!!!:gar-La;

Keep up the good work and sending pictures...

Here's another quick update. I'm getting closer, and hope to have this thing dry-fit if not glued up by Christmas! :eusa_danc

Another Bridge City gadget at work, the kerfmaker (KM-1) I was skeptical when I got it, but man it made a perfect notch for the shelf to fit in
