Found this on the local CL:

http://eastnc.craigslist.org/tls/2225619291.html

Brand new Rand wood lathe. Turning capacity-13" swing, 20" length. 12" toolrest, 4 speeds (1100,1600,2300,3400 rpms) Includes face plate and 4 prong drive center, tail stock. $80.00 OBO Call 252-646-3133

-Tried 'googleing' it and didnt come up much (which is never a good thing).

-Just wondering if it is worth picking up to play with? :dontknow: Since I've never dealt with a lathe before.

Thanks,

Eric

its way too fast at its slowest to be much use for bowls would be ok speed wise for pens , small spindle stuff

not likely to be much more than a frustration but at least its cheap might be best used as a dedicated buffing station

HTH

found a thread on sawmill creek forum regarding Rand lathes there were zero favorable comments several people indicated that it was a less than workable lathe
and less than acceptable customer service to resolve any issues as well

just passing that along

Assuming it is the same "Rand" brand I owned several years ago, it is the low end of HF's line with a different label.
