Do not use pro stone granite co

I just threw the crew from Pro Stone off my job!! I built a new screen porch and outdoor kitchen which we hired Pro Stone to install the granite top... First, the installers showed up and walked through my new landscaping, crushing plants along the way. I asked them to use the side walk which...

    Honing stone question

I have a honing stone that measures about 3 x 7. I have been using it for my chisels for several years. I don't remember where I got it but I now wonder do I put oil on it for application or water? Does it matter or can I use it without either oil or water. It probably came from Lowes.

    Norton Flattening Stone.....

After a few weeks with this stone, I'm sold. It is a 220 Grit stone with grooves cut into it. The idea is "simple", its used to flatten other water stones. It does require flattening itself, which I've done both on wet/dry paper on glass and with a diamond stone. As long as you...

    Clogged oil stone?

My Arkansas oil stone doesn't seem to cut as fast as when it was new. I suspect the surface is loaded with metal shavings. I used to use sandpaper but picked up the oil stone to learn free hand sharpening. And I like the idea of using a stone I don't have to flatten, throw away or use water...

    Stone ZCI ?

I have a Ridgid R4511 granite topped TS. I really like the saw but a couple near mishaps lately convinced me that I needed a ZCI for it. Commercial ZCIs cost over a $1 a square inch if you include shipping which just goes against my frugal nature. I had made one out of hardwood but...

    8000 grit Norton water stone

I am having some trouble with my 8000 grit Norton water stone. Instead of really polishing, I am getting some scratching. I flattened the stone on sandpaper and this is the first time I have used it. Anyone got any ideads or suggestions? Also, do you have to use a nagura stone to work up a...

    Routing Stone?

I'm planning a project to install granite tile in my kitchen. The problem I'm having is how to come up with an attractive solution for the edge of the tiles that will overhang the cabinets. I've come across an edging technique called bullnosing which is basically the equivelant of rounding the...

New photo's - sales to the Wooden Stone

I've created a gallery"Wooden Stone Gallery Sales". There are a number of new patterns in this group. It does not include the smaller snowflake ornaments I cut, simply because I am having to load photo's one at a time (my connection problem). Here are just a few: The rest are...

    Flatten diamond stone?

I have one of those DMT duosharp corse/medium black/blue bench stones thingy's. I noticed that maybe a 1/2" at each corner is noticably courser than the rest of the stone. Anyone know if there some sort of initial honeing or flattening to be done on one of these? Jim
