Trimming doors- simple X-cut sled mod *w/pics*

After the trouble I had trimming the last set of doors for my backbench upper cabinets I decided there must be a better way. So I made a simple, temporary mod to my X-cut sled that does the trick. Since my sled has a low (slightly > 3/4" high) fence I was able to mount a piece of ply to the top...

    Another crosscut sled

In my rare bout of productivity, I finally built a crosscut sled. Front and rear are 5/4 ipe, as is the runner underneath, and the base is 1/2" baltic birch. I put a coat of Cabot's Australian Timber stuff oil (natural) on it tonight. It's a mixture of linseed, tung, MS and some other stuff -...

    crosscut sled

SWEET! Very happy with this one. Front and rear are 5/4 ipe, base is 1/2" BBB. I put a coat of Cabot's Australian Timber oil (natural) on it. The finish was super easy. We'll see how it holds up.

I spent too much time on my cross cut sled

I made the fences out of a board I got out of a trash pile. Do'nr know what kind of wood it is but it looks nice. The bottom is 3/4 mdf. I put stops for both directions to save the fences The rounded edge is for a miter fence that I have not figured out how to mount yet. I made the sled...

    Miter sled plans

Can anyone provide plans for a good miter sled? Sorry I sent this to fast. I need to build raised panel doors to match some others that have mitered corners and I would like the joint to be tight and at 90 dreg. I have been getting hit and miss with my miter saw so I am looking to build one for...

    Shop Notes router sled

I got the new shop notes issue about two weeks ago and have decided to build the router sled they have in the issue. I think it is an awesome jig for doing rail/stile doors and other end grain type of stuff. Unfortunately, I think the article is the pits. It doesn't give much of the process...

    Mark's Bandsaw Sled Lumbermill

Hey ya'll. I got 2 good sized Persimmon logs from Steve Hooper a few weeks ago and wanted to saw them down to some boards I could work into the doors of a tool cabinet I planning. I set this jig up over the weekend and tried it out last night. It's a sled of 3/4" plywood with a runner screwed to...

    Tablesaw crosscut sled

I want to build a tablesaw crosscut sled. I have two Incra miter slot bars, and have checked out several of the pictures people have posted, but how do you make sure you have your bars straight before you mount them so that you get a perfect 90 degree cut off? Reason I am doing this, I am not...

    FIL's cross cut sled kit

My FIL just got a new Griz cabinet saw. He has been coveting my sled for a while so the LOML suggests that I make him one. OK, great idea, but then my BIL says that he really is looking forward to making one for himself. But we know he doesn't have the time. So I came up with a kit that we will...
