I am working on a project using Wenge and Zebrawood. since Wenge has an open grain, what can I use as a grain filler that has no effect on the color or grain pattern. Also, any suggestions for a clear finish that has no effect on the color?

Do the same products apply to Zebrawood? I want to keep the natural color of both woods!

Thanks!!

I have used J.E. Mosers transparent grain filler on a number of projects and it works really well and is easy to apply.

I would consider using either http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?FamilyID=4492
Behlens Pore-o-pac

or http://www.mcfeelys.com/product/CPF-2530/Quart-CrystaLac-Wood-Grain-Filler
CrystaLac Wood Grain Filler

Both shouldn't impart any color to the grain, and will take any finish that you plan to put over the top.
For a top coat that won't add any color to the woods I would consider either a water based Polyurethane or a Nitrocellulose Lacquer..the water based Poly is by far easier to use.
