Rift sawn WO bookcase options?

I am in the planning stage of determining which finish I will use on a RSWO book case that I am building. The bookcase is a variant of the Jefferson bookcase recently published in popular woodworking but with fewer redundancies (read, larger boxes with sliding dovetail shelves).

I want a simple finish that is fairly durable since this will be an item used regularly. I like the dark fumed look, but really want to keep it simple. Has anyone had any luck tinting waterlox original to darken things up a bit?

Ideas?

Personally, I like the "honey" tone WO gets w/ a BLO/Varnish finish. But since both of these ingredients are oil based, you can tint them easily for a darker look. I don't know about Waterlox, but I would be surprised if you couldn't tint it.
