picture frame moulding

Hello,

I recently moved to Durham. I'm looking for a good local
or regional source for picture frame moulding. The only
source I've found so far is Durham Bookcases. They have
nice stuff, but at $4.50 per foot, it seems a bit expensive.
It would be cheaper to buy a frame they had made at this
price.

Are my expectations unreasonable?
Can anyone recommend any other sources?

Not sure what you consider "close", but I'm pretty sure Rick (thesource) at The Moulding Source (www.themouldingsource.com) could make some if you wanted a run of it. Worth a check ...

There's a place in Lexington, NC that manufactures picture frame moldings and has a outlet store that sells first and second quality material, racks and racks and racks of it. Prices depend on the width of the material and once you get on their mailing list they send out sale fliers. I've bought from them on several occasions but I can't remember the name, maybe someone from that area can provide the name and directions. It's worth the trip.
