I'm fairly sure this is chestnut, but i'm not always right!

I have a friend with a few 6/4X12"X16' boards of this and one at 4/4"x40"x9'. He is either wanting to sell or have me make a keepsake for his family. Anyone have an idea of what it's worth?

I just paid 5.50/ bd ft for a 2x8 wormy chestnut rafter. I would be interested in the 40" board at some price. PM me.

40" wide would look like a potato chip that thin.. My guess its a typo. very few have slabbing capability.

It does look potato chip thin, but it's not a typo! It's over 40" wide and very old. I know it's been setting in the loft of a barn for atleast twenty years, and the barn was built in the early 1900's. It has Norfolk painted on one side.
