the LOML knows I love shop time so this weekend my biggest gift was plenty of it.

Here's a walnut bowl roughed out. I took a pic in case i broke it trying to finish it.

Here it is finished. I may take some off the bottom but my son has claimed it as his and seems happy.

Today I got my typical result:

Good Job! I know what you are talking about with the "Typical Result"

I have destroyed 2 out of 3 bowls I have made.

Makes me throw down the bowl, and say screw this I am getting my scroll saw out!

That last one is how my bowls usually end up looking. I got to work in the shop this weekend too. Maybe I will finish the crib I am working on in time for the youngin to use it for his kids.

Looks great. What did you use as finish the walnut?
I like turning walnut although it isn't my favorite wood-
but I've got plenty of it... about 10 logs stacked up
I matched your 'typical result' Saturday a few times. A 6" high ash bowl eventually whittled itself away to just under 2" - ARGH! light cuts light cuts repeat after me light cuts!!!
That's alright, it finally TURNED out okay :slap:
I was really spending the time playing around with jam chucks more than really wanting to turn anything in particular. good thing I suppose
