Cypress or White Cedar Log

I have an order for 260 fan birds (see picture below). So, I am in need of a clear section of cypress or white cedar (not red cedar). It needs to have been cut within the last couple months, be at least 8" in diameter and be from part of the trunk. I'm willing to pay for it and to drive a good ways to get it, but it needs to be what a log yard would call veneer grade (though it doesn't have to be that big in diameter).

Those are so cool! I saw Roy do one of his shows on making those. How about a how to thread? I'd love to try one.

There are several folks here that can probably help you with getting some cypress.

You might want to give American Woodyards in Raleigh a shout and see if they have what you need or could get it.

Elia - I would suggest that you contact Ivey (Beaver Branch Sawmill) here on the forum; he specilizes in cypress and should be able to get you a good log.

Saw a wood working show on UNC TV this weekend, and they were making a similar bird.

I believe they were using Cypress exclusively.
