After being neighbors for 35 years, my across the street neighbor is moving tomorrow. She had a couple of pieces of very old wood from her father's barn. I used it to make her this jewelry box. As can be seen from the pics the wood is a combination of heart pine and sapwood. I didn 't have enough wood to cut the sapwood out so I had to go with what I had. I used my Leigh D4 dovetail jig for the first time and was pleased with the results of my first attempt. I finished it with one coat of BLO, 4 coats of shellac, and a coat of Johnson's paste wax. I gave it to her today and she seemed to be very appreciative of my efforts.

Awesome work. I hope this stays in her family for years! Did you sign it? For such beautiful work a burned signature would make the best ever!
