In case you guys thought I quit WW'ing...

Here's a tray I put together for a good friends wedding shower. I did the rose over a year ago with the intent of using it in a different project.

Thought I would give it a shot - WIP

This all started because I wanted to see if I could hand cut dovetail joints (not easy...I still need to practice). So I built a simple box. (The picture quality isn't very good. I'm not really set up to take good pictures.) Then I decided that I should do something different for the lid...

    My AM thought

Welcome to day 2 of the Gulf crisis, oops wrong website. :gar-Bi Obviously a great amount of my time has been spent dealing with NCWW issues the past 36 hours. This morning while talking to my wife I had some thoughts and I want to share them. 1. I feel a certain amount of freedom in the...

    Who Would Have Thought?

After last week's 100+ heat and humidity, who would have thought that a day in the nineties would actually feel GOOD? If it wasn't for the humidity, I would throw open the shop doors tonight. It's cooler outside than inside right now. By morning outside will be even cooler.

More food for thought - "jonquecol on a rant"

This thread may be an excellent example to use to address some issues. What I took away from the comments in the M&A thread was that most moderators felt "uncomfortable" with it. no one seemed to think it was great and don't worry about.:gar-Bi But my question is why? How would you...

    Some food for thought

One of the first tasks that we, as group, take on, will be a complete review of our posting policies, moderation procedures, moderator job descriptions, etc. Is it becuase I think it is broke. No. Could it be improved? Of course. But before we start to debate and start creating complex drafts...

wood movement calculator and some food for thought

There is a nice calculator here: http://www.woodworkerssource.com/movement.php One of the reasons I thought to post this today was because of a couple of postings I did recently about getting pretty accurate on the cheap. Here are a few salient points mentioned in the notes below the...

thought on rearranging the Forum pages

To Jim "froggylips", If I knew how to do a screen shot I would and paste it here to better make my point. I don't so let's see if I can explain. About half way down the page before you get to the actual forum, the forum name is listed in a white box. After that comes add's and a few other...

Another thought on the goodwill lathe

The lathe has been passed and is in use. I've had a thought that I would like to share with the board. The lathe package, as I understand it, includes the lathe, turning tools, chuck, and sharpening system. With one exception, it seems to be a fairly complete system for the beginner. I think...

I thought I did this a couple years ago

I'm Rick DiNardo. A lot of you knew that. The rest of you do now. My main business is The Moulding Source. See link below. My secondary business is The Woodworking Source. See Ad/Link to the right. Right below the Klingspor ad. That's right, the one with the pretty picture. ..............Are...

    Tom's $25 saw + Prazi = food for thought...

I don't know how many folks are aware of this product: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000224SA/?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=1098602861&ref=pd_sl_8j09wv8iyx_b about $150 for a beam cutting attachment, but you need a good worm drive saw to power it. I see Tom (Toolferone) just put one up for sale cheap...

Thought this was bigger, glad it's not!

I met Rob (McRabbet) Down in Winston this morning. Very nice of him to help a widow sell her late hubbies tools. Got the drill press home in my Forester, had planned to take the truck but my son changed my plans for me. :rotflm: Did a little minor rust cleanup and everything works perfectly...

Have you thought about using Bamboo??

Afternoon all, I have been using mostly hard and soft woods grown here in the good ole US of A for the majority of my woodworking life, thus far. I sprinkle in a few exotics like Brazilian Cherry, Purpleheart and Maca(though this one is getting darn near impossible to get my hands on...) now and...

    Who would have thought?

Who would have thought buying tools was so hard. I have a question about a bandsaw and could use some advise. I have been looking at purchasing a bandsaw. This will be my first bandsaw and I didn't want to make the mistake (tablesaw???) of buying something and out-growing it in a year. I...

Just joined, thought I'd say hello.

I joined yesterday and haven't done much with the site yet. I guess I have some updating to do and I need to find some pictures. Everyone is talking about wood sources. Does anyone have any time sources, because I could use more time to get to some woodworking? Walt Milowic

Thought I would share my latest project

My oldest daughter just turned three and I was actually able to finish this project on-time... I guess. I had been working on this step stool for several months. All of that other stuff gets in the way... you know that 9 to 5 stuff. My daughter needed a good step stool to reach the...
