bugs

Sterilizing bowl blanks - getting out the bugs, fungus, etc.

Unless you buy all your blanks undoubted some will have something alive in the wood whether it's termites, beetles, or spalting fungus. I'm concerned about these things and I don't want them sprayed all over me or the shop while turning. I don't want to soak in DNA because that would get...

This really bugs me...

help black bugs on wood

i recently purchased some fresh cut red oak, while i was stacking the wood i noticed some black bugs (like ants) on the wood. I noticed some holes bored in the wood and some of the knots were chewed on. I would know how to kill the buggs, can i fog them or spray the wood without ruining the...

Got Bugs???

8-O Hi everybody, I am in the prosess of cutting some SYP for a guy and it's covered with these. They look like maggots. What are they and should I kill everything around to get rid of them?? Also what should I use to kill them and any other bugs that show up?? I don't want a bunch of lumber...

Killing Bugs in Green Wood

I recently brought in a red oak log that has very small "bug" holes in it. They are scattered but the log is not riddled with them. I have been told it is evidence of powder post beatles.:crybaby2: I understand that if you heat the wood at 160 degrees for 3-4 hours it will kill the beatles...
