This guy has definitely found a niche and has made his way to the center of it. I am with you, I do not understand, but I do applaud his ability do pull it off.

My friend Jim Goodwin makes ship-in-bottles, and generally sells them at a price where he is making $30-$40 per hour. For something that is a hobby (and that he freely teaches people to do (unless he's doing it at something like the Woodwright's School)), that's not bad.

The "standard" rate is $1 - $!.50/piece. They are a fair amount of work, but that seems high even to me. Stave's and several others get $4 - $6/piece.
