wood identification help

I am going to be making a copy soon to match this end-table and would like to know what type of wood this is? Any ideas? When I first looked at in person I thought cherry but in looking at the pictures I'm not sure.

My guess would be either cherry or maple.

I have some furniture made from hard maple (purchased about 30 years ago) with a very similar grain pattern and stain.

Thanks. I may go with cherry then and just experiment on the stain shade to find a best match.

It is hard to match old cherry because it darkens as it ages. By the way my guess would have been cherry as well.
