I have found a source of some walnut but not sure what it is worth. Boards are 10-12 foot long and 8" wide. All is rough sawn 1". It has been racked and under a cover air drying since 1999. What is a good buy and what is a great buy?
Steve Wall Lumber sells 4/4 Rough "Log Run" kiln-dried walnut for $175/100 BF. ("Log Run" is ungraded lumber that is stacked as it comes off the sawmill). Yields are usually 40% #2 Common; 40% #1 Common and 20% Select. If, and it's an important if, this lumber was "stickered" properly and kept under cover and air dried properly, it should be worth the same money. If boards are warped, cupped, bowed, etc, it's worth lots less. If critters have gotten into the stack(s), then who knows. Six years is a long time.
