vINEGAR PAINTING WOOD FINISHES

I was brewing up a bit of strong tea to stain the money box of a bank I made for the grand-dau. It gives a nice color and is non-toxic, I like that. Whie in the kitchen I saw some apple cider vinega and wondered how that would do as a stain, and if it would damage the wood at all, citric acid you know.

Did some googling, and found that wood is an excellent cleaner for wood, and won't damage it. And found this site while I was out there - scroll down a bit. http://www.hgtv.com/crafting/vinegar-painting-wood-finishes/index.html

Probably nothing I will ever use but thought it might interest a few of you.

Thanks for the link Theo. Several years ago I came across this finishing technique and like doing it. Except for the smell it's very easy and cheap to do and results in some beautiful finishes.
