 Oh my.... that is very cool. It is safe to say that I will never attempt that. I think the 75oo lb lathe would crack the floor in my garage.

Wow that is some talent and some heavy machinery that I will probably never be able to afford.

But sure does have some cool designs!

Thanks, I really enjoyed it!

You know, it would be realy cool to have a 7' tall vase made out of an entire tree in one of my rooms. Very nice!

You can see some at the Hodges Taylor gallery locally.

Some of his forms were almost 3 feet wide and as tall as me out of a solid log..amazing.

WOW. Im pretty fearless in most respects. Not afraid of tools, speed, heights, dark, spiders or commitment.........but thats one thing im pretty sure id think twice before attempting. Would hate to be anywhere near that room if something broke loose.

Ed Moulthrop was a wood turner from Atlanta who died several years ago. Ed was probably the pioneer of this type of large turning, although I don't know if he did hollow forms. He did do very large bowls. Some of his turning tools were six and eight feet long. Have a catch with something like that, and it might fling you across the shop!!

I've got to admire the courage of these guys in addition to their talent, creativity, and resourcefulness.
