tool rest base

I have a Delta 46-111 lathe and I want to quick release tool rest base for it. Mine has to be tightened and loosened with a wrench and the nut and wrench get in the way when turning bowls. I ordered the 46-707 tool rest base from Delta but it was much too large for the lathe. Any suggestions?

Could you change the nut out to a quick release cam lever? That might take up just as much space, but at least you wouldn't have to use a wrench :dontknow:

I have the same lathe and the same problems. I thought once about using a ratchet type handle but haven't made the attempt yet. Don't know if this would be a step up or not. I would like to find a banjo with an outboard tightening lever. Like you found out, most newer types are too thick and take up valuable space. BTW, welcome to the site.

That's too bad. I'd rather not have to return it so selling it to you would be preferable.
