Well I spent today working on the mortise jig to go along with the tenon jig I built yesterday. I decided to build this jig for really quick setup. So it only does 1/4" in 3/4" stock and if I remove the face plate it will do 1/2" in 1 1/2" stock.
Like the other jigs this uses a 1" bushing for lining everything up.
Ths jig is more like a sled actually I can use the router fence to set stop blocks so I can make all the mortises the same length.
Removing the plate to switch to 1 1/2 stock is quick.
So I rest the stock against the guide block and lever the piece onto the spiral bit. I think I'd add some extra support if I every used the 1/2" bit.
So its not the most adaptable jig but that the trade off is I can make repeatable mortises in 3/4" stock. Since this is really for face frames think it will save me a ton of time.
I think I'm all jig'd out this weekend!:gar-La;
