HELP!! Does anyone have a recommendation on a positive pressure respirator that is usable with glasses? :icon_scra

Pre-woodworking lung problems make a non-powered (i.e., sucking through a filter) system not an option.:gar-Cr

TIA for any help on this.

A few members have the Triton powered units. Jeremy (Woodwrangler) and John (Woodguy1975) for when they do serious dust making. http://www.tritonwoodworking.com/poweredrespirator.htm

Have you considered a good dust collection system like the Clear Vue for your big stationary equipment? (There's dust collection and there's the Bill Pentz kind of dust collection....kinda like apples and pineapples. http://billpentz.com/woodworking/cyclone/index.cfm )

Have you looked at using handtools instead of powered tools?
How about smoothing planes, shaves and scrapers instead of sandpaper?
Handsaws instead of powered saws?

Ditto what Tarhead says. Bill Pentz, arguably THE guru of home shop dust collection, was/is a lung sufferer. Read what he has to say, even if you don't go with a DC system.

Mark/Alan,

Thanks for your ideas. I have a Delta DC and a pretty good air filter/fan, but the problem I have is up close on things like the lathe where collection is about impossible (at least for me).

I have done some research (my mother's maiden name is Pence so maybe Bill Pentz and I are related somewhere) and was about overwhelmed with information until I ran into the tie breaker -- Jeremy's fashion statement:

I was able to get the Trend airshield Pro at a decent price.

Can I take gloat credit using his picture??:wink_smil
