Awesome work Charlie!!!:icon_thum:icon_thum:icon_thum:icon_thum

Certainly work of an artist and work that anyone would be very proud to display in an area of prominence.

Your patience in gluing up all of those segments prior to turning is admirable.

Thanks for all the great comments.

Wayne & Tony, I wish I was an artist, but I am only a good copier. Most of my turnings are copy's from what I have found on the internet. The design credit goes to all of those artists!

Brian, The purpleheart/yellowheart combination catches everyones eye.

BobbyG, I start with an oversize block and cut random lines with an 1/8" bandsaw. This leaves a .025 saw kerf. Then I sandwich a .025 strip of contrasting wood between the two cut pieces. This was done 7 times to each of the 12 segments on the PH/YH vase. But it's fun because being random I don't have to worry about following the line.

Joe, Yup, my photo skills are lacking, to say the least. But it does help hide the defects/blemishes:gar-La;

Joe, don't let Charlie kid you. I've looked at several of these turning in person and I never saw any flaws/blemishes. They are truly awesome. Nice work Charlie!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to find me a different forum. I am way over my head in this one. I am a sawdust maker and evryone else seem to be artists and artisons.
Inspiring work Charlie!

James, We are all sawdust makers of some form or another. That is what makes this such a great site. Believe me, I am in awe with some of the projects that I see. Well above my head.
