It's interesting I guess, but ultimately just more PC "look at how green I am" academic b.s. In practice, especially in the presence of UV, I doubt it would hold up well at all. Especially those branch to square stock joints. The bottles are likely already somewhat brittle after being heated that way since they aren't intended for heat shrinking. Someone will get dumped on their butts fairly quickly. Maybe their casts will be biodegradable.

Yeah, seems like a case of recycling taken one step too far.

Most anything made from poly resins will shrink, if enough heat is applied. PP, PE, HDPE, LLDPE, PET-they all shrink when heated...but not all are designed for shrinking, so durability may be lacking. A simple test for this is using a heat gun to shrink a ziploc bag. It'll work, but not sure how well for it's intended purpose.

I find the best reuse for 1/2 ltr water & drink bottles is void fill & cushioning in packaging. Very light, very strong when capped. Once shipped a laptop using nothing in the box but empty bottles, and it arrived as it was shipped.

Or, this may fulfill a purpose...

I had a career working for environmental protection, but I wonder how many pounds of carbon were consumed by the electricity used for the heat guns. Hmmm. I applaud the reuse of plastic bottles and recycle myself, but I've seen better outcomes than this.

Maybe a inception of an idea. Lets see where it goes if anywhere. Most likely a statement piece more than anything.
