With the summer activities like vacations and playing with cars winding down, it's time to transition back into the shop. My first project this year was a birthday gift for my brother who is a musician. I've wanted to try a keyboard end-grain cutting board and this was the perfect occasion.

Very nice. What did you use for the thin lines between the keys?
The black keys and the "gaps" between them are walnut. I sanded them to a thickness of 1/16" on the drum sander.

The keyboard is made up of four groups of patterns. I glued them up in 24" lengths, cut them to the thickness of the cutting board on my sled, then glued up the three and four key patterns. Once those patterns were done, I glued up the groups into the full keyboard.
