I got a new sander

For many years I've been using a 3M ROS air sander and a Festool ETS 125/3. There's been a lot of times I felt I needed something more aggressive, getting tired of things looking good, but when stained or finished, there are some mill marks or drum sander marks.

I bought a Bosch GET75 6N, which is Bosch's answer to the Festool Rotex. The little I've used it so far is just to test, but I can already see I should have gotten is a long time ago. I plan to get a hard pad.

If the other Bosch sanders are of equal quality I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I have their bigger 6 inch. Love it when I need to go aggressive. ( Well usually if that bad, I go for a plane) Anyway, low vibration good tools. I use the 3M Xtract for fine work where I am not using a card scraper.

I have the 65, the 5 inch version of the same. It is a good sander for sure.

Paired with my festool midi and cubitron or similar mesh sandpaper, I have no issues with dust collection.

How is the vibration? Does it leave your have feeling numb after extended use like a 5" one does? Is this for just aggressive work or can it be used for fine, finishing work as well?

I've never had any issues with extended sanding sessions. It has a side mounted handle or can be gripped around the head.

Now if you run it on turbo at full blast and don't secure your workpieces, it can sling them right across your bench! But you're probably not turbo moding constantly.

I haven’t used it for an extended period, but the vibration doesn’t seem bad at all.

I have the 6” version. It’s a great sander for the price. Turbo mode removes almost as much as a belt sander, but you actually have dust collection which makes it much better in my opinion. Better use a higher end sand paper if you don’t want to be changing sheets every few minutes.

The neat thing about the Bosch GET75 6N is that you can buy and mount the 5 inch backing pads on it. This ROS is very good whether with the 6 inch or the 5 inch pads attached.

pads attached.
Do you by chance have a link to the 5” pad that fits the 6” sander? I ordered a 5” pad and it wouldn’t fit. I have a lot of 5” sheets that I would love to be able to use.

The GET65-5 (5" version) has a proprietary mounting 'key' to prevent aftermarket pads from fitting and the 6" OEM pads won't fit either. I don't know if the 6" version has the same 'feature'. I recently bought the GET65-5 (5" version) and returned it after realizing this and that there are no aftermarket pads that can be used with it. Also, I couldn't find pad protectors that line up adequately with the openings so dust collection and the pad life (hooks will wear/melt) when using net-type abrasive would be less than optimal. I replaced it with the MaxXT 5mm throw brushless sander (not the Rotex clone) that accepts a standard 5/16x24 mount and added a 5" aftermarket pad that matches Mirka pad protectors and am very happy.
