HF Dust Collectors

Has anyone had any experience with HF dust collectors? I have a 20 by 20 shop and need something to help with the sanding dust from the lathe. Thanks !

I am using the HF dust collector in my shop.
Its working as good as cam be expected for a DC that size.

I have the HF DC with a Wynn filter and separator and it has been working great. With the separator, I only have empty/change the DC bottom bag about once every six months or so. Now, I don't have it nicely plumbed like Earl's:icon_thum:icon_thum; I just move the hose from machine to machine.:embarrassed:

One of the HF gems IMHO.

The filter and seperator are actually add-ons to the HF DC unit.

The Wynn filter is available through Wynn Environmental here....

For the seperator (or chip collector), you purchase a 30 gallon trash can and a separator lid and follow this design published by Phil Thien.

The separator lid can be home made or be lazy like me and get one commercially (ie Rockler, Woodcraft, Klingspor etc). Build your own baffle out of 3/4" MDF, drop it into the trash can and you are good to go.

You will be amazed as to how well this setup works. Many members here at the site have similar configurations. (Do a search on past threads started here at the site.)

I have the cheapest DC that HF sells. I hooked it up to a chip separator with 30 gal. trash can. Works great for my needs. My shop is about your size.

Ditto on the other comments. I have the HF collector with the Wynn filter. It works great in my meager shop.
