OK, I need to make a policy for all sorts of precedent, liability, etc. issue. This has been debated by the staff.

So, only members in "good Standing" can receive the GW Lathe. So what is good standing, sort of hard to define, but I think the criteria we use for DQ is really a statement of good standing.

No one under the age 18 may receive the lathe. That doesn't mean a member can't receive the lathe and allow their children to use it. It just means the adult assumes all the associated liability, safety, etc. responsibilities. Do not assume by that statement that GeorgeL is the recipient.

There will another post later in the day about who will be receiving the lathe.

I think that's a wise policy Steve! Your generosity on every thing you do here continues to amaze me. Good luck with the decision!

Can't say I'd do it any different. Though Alex should get his turn with the lathe, it's a better idea to keep it tied to an adult who can assume responsibility.
