fixing loose brick

The original lasted 30 years, if I can get a fix to last another 30 I'll be long gone.

The complete treatment proposed by Fred is beyond what I'm going to attempt on my own.
this might be a longer term project.

In the meantime if you visit use the right hand rail going up and the left hand coming down!
(Better yet come around back)

understood.:icon_thum if you go the mortar route maybe add a couple of small lengths of rebar in the holes in the brick to give it a little more bite. pack the mortar around said rebar to fill the cells. I don't believe mortar alone will give enough support unless you give it a good long time to set up. maybe a week? :dontknow:

One quick suggestion, for what ever you do, make sure its fully sealed. If water can get in, it will probably bust again when it freezes.
