Yea, it is, but you can buy it for $50 and send the motor to Craftsman/Sears and get a $100 or you can use it and be carefull. I have one of the recalled models, and with a little common sense you can avoid cutting off any appendages.

I have a Sears RAS and did get the replacement guard package from Emerson after the recall. IIRC, they will rebate $100 only for a subset of models where a retrofit guard could not be made, not for all of them.
