Cheery Clone

Is there anything out there that would resemble Cherry but cost less?? Someone has asked me this question but I could not answer it.....Any help out there??:icon_scra

lots of cabinet companies pass off alder as cherry. it takes a trained eye to tell the differance.:icon_thum and its cheaper!

A lot of woods can be stained/colored to pass as cherry.

My daughter wants a kitchen table and chairs that look like cherry (she'd like cherry but knows what it costs). I plan to use maple and stain it. I think the grain and hardness of maple are very close to cherry. Around here, cherry is more than walnut but maple is about like oak - relatively inexpensive.
