6" Jointer

I'm looking for a Jointer. Would like an 8", but it is out of my price range.
I missed out on a deal for a Jet 6".
I'm looking at a Ridgid 6" for $250(used).

Any thoughts on the HF 6" Jointer for $229.

I've heard a lot of great things about the Ridgid. Haven't heard any about the HF. I've not personally used either.

+1 on the Ridgid I had good experiences with mine before upgrading. They seem to come and go on craigslist (which is where I got mine orignally) so I'd think you'd be able to land a ridigid or another 6" jointer off craigslist.

I would go for the Rigid. Have one for 4 years and would not trade for 2 HF.:gar-La;:rotflm:

I got the Ridgid 6" jointer recently and it is a joy to use. Like you the 8" was out of budget for me and space as well.

Just recently a member had one to sell on here, of course it came up right after I bought mine, but thats my luck. Check the classifieds here and see if he still has it, it was brand new I believe.

Anyway, the Ridgid gets a lot of good reviews and seems well made and actually a very quiet running machine. Mine was easy to set up and adjust, and is really a nice addition to my shop.

On the HF jointer I have only ever heard of one person who bought one, and he did not have a positive experience with it.
