tapering jig for hollowing?

Has anyone ever tried making one? I am looking into turning some woodwinds. With a few exceptions, the bores are not perfect cylinders, they are slightly conical. Guys that turn them for a living have reamers; lots of reamers, because different instruments and even different parts of some single...

Table saw tapering - either way round

I can't think of a preference my self, but is there a right and wrong way or a preference to feeding a tapering jig into a TS so that the the thin end or the thick end gets cut first. I know the hinged aluminium taper jigs cut thick end first, but is there any reason not to do it the other way...

need piece cut with a tablesaw and tapering jig

hi, i need to cut a piece of ebony (a fretboard for a guitar) with a slight taper on both sides with a table saw... the cut is really important so it needs to be very exact, the ebony is slotted for the frets already so it has 22 small kerfs in it... i've been told that to avoid chipping or any...

Tapering Table Legs

Tapering jigs

I notice that all of the tapering jigs that I have seen, work by sliding the jig against the fence. What if instead, you clamped one side of the jig to the fence and moved the piece against the other side of the jig? In essence making the fence angled. It sounds good to me, but I don't want it...
