A cherry pizza peel

Making a peel for manipulating a pizza into and out of an oven out of cherry. Two pieces resawn to about 1/4" and glued with dowels, cut to the rough shape of a pizza peel on a bandsaw.

Top Coat is Orange peel texture

Im using the Earlex 5500 with a 1.0 tip and spraying Deft Clear Wod Finish.....is sprayer set to high???:eusa_thin

Peel and stick veneer

Has anybody used Rocklers peel and stick veneer? I just bought some and want to use it over a substrate of Birch plywood. The instructions mention sealing the wood first. Are they talking about just porous woods or all woods and will thinned shelac do the trick?
