Looks like you have quite the basement and plenty of future shop room.

Most of us can only hope.

First piece of plywood wall installed. Had to get the compressor working first. A wire had come loose. I have laid out the cut lines for the second sheet. This wall will take three and a half sheets.

We closed on our new home Tuesday! the house is about 2,00 square feet. I get a large part of the basement for my shop. I estimate between 1,100 and 1,00 square feet. There is a set of Bilco doors to bring tools and wood in and out.

Our stuff is being deliver 11/8 and 9. I hope to build some internal walls and get an electrician in soon to run 110V outlets and a few 220V lines after that. This will be the largest space I have ever had. I do enjoy designing and build a shop! I will post pics.
Whatnpart of NY are you in?

Walls are basically done. Just need to block off some of the upper openings. Time to attach racks to the walls and position equipment. Air filter install and lighting are also on the list.

I have been making a lot of progress on the shop! I know random walls are not that interesting, but I have finished the walls and I am working on tool layout. I have LED lighting arriving today, Hopefu;y I will have more interesting picture this week.

FWIW the shop is between 975-1000 Square feet. Largest I have ever had.

For someone who just moved and started a new job you're making amazing progress! Took me over a year just to get started, let alone get electrical, tools. etc. installed.

Very happy woodworker here! I arranged some of my tools today. I will be moving the workbench over toward the open area. The box is a sliding drawer that fits under the lathe.

The lights are LEDs that were recommended by Bas. I will add two more to make a row of six, and then add two rows of two light fixtures elsewhere. These lights are awesome.

Major progress! The Table saw with Incra rails and router table is assembled and everything runs! 85% of my stuff has found a home. I still need to tune my tools, get a new power switch for my lathe, install my Triton wood rack, and build a few wall cabinets. Here are the latest pictures.

Doug, I thought you moved to NY to take a full-time job at Rensselaer; given the amount of progress you have made with building out your shop, you must not be getting too much sleep!:) The shop sure is looking good!

Donn:

Since I have little distractions here and the house is smaller I have more time. I am coming to the end of the build out and will have to start on the pile of projects that have built up!

Donn, ten points for being able to spell “Rensselaer”.
