Compound Cut Puzzle Box Made Completely On The Scroll Saw!
The design is from an older issue of @scrollsawwoodworking by @foxchapelpublishing
I photocopied the pattern and prepped a piece of Maple to the proper dimensions on my @rikon_powertools table saw and then after attaching the pattern it was time to head to my @deltamachinery scroll saw.
I first double checked that my table was perfectly square with my blade alignment jig (now for sale!) And installed a number 5 ultra reverse tooth blade into the saw.
The smaller blade is key for making the tight turns so the puzzle part of the box works. Please keep in mind this is an extremely slow cut and with it being hard maple, it still produced burn marks even as slow as I was going.
It took me around 15 minutes to scroll it out completely and I re glued the bottom on with CA Glue and activator.
I then sanded the pieces with @klingsporswoodworkingshop sandpaper and did my first test and everything came out great!
For a finish I gave it several coats of @rustoleum clear gloss.
The puzzle box is small and a unique way to use up shop scraps and have something nice to store a special bracelet or ring in!
Thanks you Karl Taylor for an amazing design!
Let me know if you would wanna see me make one of these in a future video!
