Got around to organizing some wood I bought from a family who was cleaning out a shop. I got a whole stack and couldn't even see the wood for the dust. These are the pieces I can't seem to figure out.

The facegrain reminds me of cherry, but the saw marks are obscuring the endgrain. Clean up the endgrain with either a hand plane or sand to 320-400 so that we can get a better look at it.

Cherry was also my initial thought.

Maybe go by smell? It has a rather spicy scent IMO when cut or sanded, and the sawdust has a horrible bitter taste to it. Not that I recommend eating sawdust, but sometimes mouth breathers like me do...

Well I can't say that I plan to intentionally taste it haha. Cherry makes sense for the center board, however the 2 other seem to be a much darker brown? I'm not sure an accurate color is coming through in the pictures

Cherry turns from having a pinkish cast to brown(er) with exposure to the sun, and given the similarities of the boards otherwise that seems more likely still.
