I think it's mine. Maybe in another life, it would go well with the solid beech workbench that I'd also have in another life:rotflm:.

Did you find that tool box on NCWW?

That is one awesome tool box though. While you're building one, might as well go ahead and build two. I have an empty spot on my wall just big enough :-D

Mike -

New Yankee Workshop had a simpler one that you could use as a starting point

Also, a couple of years ago The Woodwright's Shop had an episode showing an old multifold-out chest that looked similar. Don't know if you can find a video of that episode or not, but it was interesting.

That is Smitty49's tool box. I have admired it before. He is a great guy and I am sure he will be willing to answer your questions. He once sent me an additional pic of it. If you get more info he is willing to share please pass it on.

That is very nice work. Beautiful and exactly what I would like to have. I'd love to have something that nice. The project I'm working on now is a plane till. A variation off the Hand Tool Cabinet in this months ShopNotes. I might get some ideals from this pic. Don't know how I missed it!

Thanks Mr. Robinson!

Did I ever tell you I was born a Robinson? My mother got divorced before I was born and checked into the hospital under her maiden name to avoid another beating from her ex.

Hey,

While y'all are here... did I pay too much for a very clean maybe 90% condition Stanley #40 scrub plane with rosewood tote and knob?

Oh yeah, it was $45 plus sales tax in a rummage store this morning.

Isn't the #40 kinda rare?

pics later... :rotflm:

If that's true, may I say, You SUCK?
The #40 is a very useful one. Even if one could make do, with a #5, or
a beaten up woodie, eventually, you'll still get you a #40.

It's a well organized toolbox.
You may want to check out the Tauton Toolbox book.
Bob Key (the originator of the Bob Key bench) wrote on his website an
article about a "portable" tool box he made, he discussed the tools he
chose to carry in that box, and how the arrangements were made. It
should help if you want to build your own.

The problem with toolbox, tool cabinet, or shelf is that, like public school
use trailers in addition to the normal buildings, even if it's a brand new
school, you'll find you run out of space the minute you are done.

Regards.
