Saw this ad on Raleigh CraigsList and it has me scratching my head.

I guessed at a thickness of 3" and used the widest width mentioned (53"). 12 feet = 144". Seems like about 160 bd. ft. for $3,800. So like $23.75/bd-ft? What am I missing here?

Live Edge Bur Oak slab, measuring at 12' length (width from 3'3" to 4'5"). Would make a beautiful table, tables, or bar top. We have two large slabs at ($3800 each) or smaller slab measuring at 6'5" length (width from 1'6" to 3'4" ) priced at ($1,400)

You forgot about, or did not include, the gold nuggets incased in the wood.

That must be it. :gar-La;

I really don't understand the whole 'Live Edge' thing. It seems like a little less work for the sawyer, so why does it always seem to cost more?

I'm with you brother. I'm not into "rustic" but respect it for what it is but the market.... Good grief.

If those are 3" thick, kiln dried, quartersawn burr oak slabs the price is not out of line.

On the other hand, if they are green and flatsawn, the seller is smoking crack.
