Anyone have a source for sawdust to fill a punching bag in the triangle area. I have a friend that is asking. She got it for her daughter’s birthday and trying to will it up. They recommended sawdust. I don’t have enough saved up.

I recommend checking with a local sawyer (e.g., Scott Smith). Theirs will be coarser and more consistent in size (probably what she wants). Plus, they produce mountains of sawdust.

I agree with Jim, Scott has literally mountains of it. I also keep a dedicated trash receptacle outside my shop that I dump my 35 Gal dust collection barrel into when needed. At the moment it's almost full and definitely has enough sawdust to fill a punching bag. Mine is a combination of fine and coarse coming from a variety of machines but it is clean. I'm in Apex and if you pm me I'd be happy to provide my contact details and she can stop by and I'll fill it up for her. Will be working on a beautiful deodar cedar slab all weekend in my home shop!

When needed? I’m going to resume planing some white pine next week, smells great too. Might have enough if I save it rather than dump it. But probably not til late in week.

I will see if I can get up with Scott but I will also let her know you have some available too Trace and maybe Tom later in week. Just don’t know what her schedule is

I currently have a 35 gallon cardboard drum that's full of sawdust from my dust collection system. It's just waiting for me to dump it. I'm in Chapel Hill about 2 miles off exit 266 of 40.

I have two 40 gallon garbage bags of dried stuff sitting in my shop right now, but probably too far from you. You might want to consider the moisture content of the sawdust you use as you don't want mold problems developing in the bag.

Mine will be all pine planer shavings so possible a bit fluffy compared to table saw type sawdust that tends to pack tighter. Moisture of boards has been 10% max, so should be ok. I recall the adult bag at karate was pretty hard. For kids we usually used foam filled pads with a bit of give that were easier on the joints.

Anyway, I won’t dump any til I hear back.
