I would not remove the cabinet for this easy job ;-) Those look like built in place cabs. If so, you may find all that is holding the rail on is a few finishing nails. If this is the case, it is easily removed.

If not, then: Jigsaw w/edge guide (you'll have to get inventive on how to clamp it)--> hand saw --> bull nose, chisel plane, rasp, sanding block (if needed the edges won't be seen so straight cut most important.). You may have address that side rail if the fit is tight.

Do check your refrig req's first, though. We lost an upright freezer once because I didn't leave enough breathing room (the coil was not on the back either it was on the bottom).
