Tool Identification - specialty pliars

They look like blacksmith tongs. Smiths tend to make dozens of these, each with a different configuration depending on the intended task. As to the specific task of these tongs I'll leave that answer to any blacksmiths who are on the forum.

They were in with some tools that belonged to my great grandfather. He was a Carpenter. Maybe he did some blacksmithing too.

I have used tongs like those in the machinist trade to quench a part
I think this.... They look awful short for blacksmith tongs. Would singe your hand pretty good using those for such. That said, I have made several shorter tongs for smaller work. I can use them blacksmithing, they just arent NEAR as comfortable to use as full sized tongs. That forge gets HOT.

This website has a set that look very similar in an 11.8 inch length. I think we have found the answer... Round Jaw Tongs
