In order to learn the craft of timber framing, you need to work on a project. One of the best ways to do this is at a site. The purpose of the workshop is to learn how to layout and cut a mortise, its matting tenon. As well as a diagonal brace that goes between the post and the beam. If the frame gets finished, in the process, that's great. Many times, it does not. Then the host finishes the frame afterwards. Each frame is different, each raising is different. These are all opportunities to learn.
