I've been away from this forum for way too long...

I have just moved from a house with garage where I stored my wood on old grocery store shelves, so it was 100% supported. This worked OK but had issues with loosing boards because they got buried at the back/bottom of a shelf. I am now living in the house I where I grew up, which as pluses and minuses. Memories and getting to enjoy pecky cyprus paneling again are a big plus, but a smaller shop is a big minus... (dropped from 20x20 to 10x20 ). Needless to say I did not keep the grocery store shelves...

I am now looking to build a simple rack on one wall. It will be roughly 9' log by 48" tall. I'm thinking to use these brackets: http://www.leevalley.com/en/Wood/page.aspx?p=65206&cat=1,43326 and would love to get any available advice (or opinions :D) on optimal spacing of the supports in a wood rack.

Chris,

Thanks for the tip.

I have successfully used these types , put them on every other stud (32" spacing for 10' or so) and put ALOT of weight on them!

Along with these: (not sure why they are calling them 2" long, but I got the 10" versions)

Nice part is, they are completely adjustable
