My wife wanted a small plant stand. It won't be very visible so it needed to be a certain size but it didn't need to be a thing of beauty.
So I decided to glue up come cutoffs and just get it done. The only reason I'm posting this is that I was amazed at how the glue-up came out. There are 11 pieces of walnut in it and I just cut them on the table saw using the stock miter gauge and a cheap, thin kerf rip blade. I didn't do any tweaking or filling. Just glued them up straight off the saw and ran it through the planer to flatten it. Zoom in as much as you want. No Gaps anywhere.
