This a direct drive saw, with a universal motor. I have one on PERMANENT loan. A much better deal, is the Rockwell 10" contractor's saw listed on Nov 11th, for $150, located in Morrisville. The pictures of this saw show up as brown, when it is actually Delta gray. It is a Model 10, on an enclosed base, with 1.5 HP TEFC motor.
