At our NCWW lunch yesterday I was asked what project I was working on. I responded “at the moment, replacing a water filter” which drew a chuckle. I had to make a mounting bracket so there was at least a trivial bit of woodworking involved.

Previous filter had compression fittings that just would not part. I didn’t have an open end to fit the smaller hex and wrenching the large hex just twisted the supply pipe. Hacksawed it off.

I have not screwed up the courage to trust Shark fittings, Also found the offerings of Cu fittings quite reduced. Ended up with thread to sweat adapter, nipple, and union on each side.

This one from Lowe’s. No research other than going to Homer’s first where it was pricier and filter element not included.
